Current Issue
The plastic problem
Plastics are widely used because they are cheap, durable, and versatile, but these same properties make them difficult to break down naturally. As a result, large amounts of plastic waste accumulate in landfills, rivers, and oceans.
Every year, more than 390 million tonnes of plastic are produced globally, making it one of the most widely manufactured materials in the world and a major driver of environmental impact in future.
More than 22 million tonnes of plastic waste leak into the environment each year, contributing to widespread pollution in oceans, rivers, and land ecosystems. This uncontrolled leakage harms wildlife.
The plastics lifecycle is estimated to generate around 1.8 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, making it a contributor to global climate change that will give the impact to environment
